Promising for transport advance: Premier Pavel Filip met with IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto
Prime Minister Pavel Filip met today with the Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union (IUU), Umberto de Pretto.
The interlocutors exchanged views on extending and facilitating international cooperation in the field of transport, on the transport situation in the Republic of Moldova, as well as on the role of the sector in the development of the trade and the economic growth of the country.
In this context, the Prime Minister reiterated the opening of Moldova in promoting the IRU objectives, noting that the Government was willing to contribute to the intensification of the international cooperation in the field of freight and passenger transport.
In return, Umberto de Pretto mentioned the favorable geographical location of the Republic of Moldova for the development of transit car transportation, encouraging the authorities to make full use of this potential.
The IRU was set up in Geneva in 1948, and currently assembles associate members and associate members from over a hundred countries.
