The Prosecutor General's Office (PG) rejected the requests to extradite Veaceslav Platon to Ukraine and Russia. The decision was taken after the PG examined the requests made by the General Prosecutors of the two states.
"Given that the defendant Platon holds the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova and serves his sentence, meanwhile, he is targeted in other files that the criminal prosecution is in progress and in his absence, the reasonable term of the investigations could be violated and, consequently, the rights and interests of the injured parties would be violated, the General Prosecutor's Office cannot satisfy the requests of the colleagues from Ukraine and the Russian Federation, both being rejected, " quoted the statement of the General Prosecutor's Office.
