Prosecutor SUSPENDED from office for wrongfully convicting man for murder
A prosecutor is investigated for bringing an innocent person has been suspended from office. The victim is Andrei Craciun, the man who receive five years imprisonment for a crime he did not commit.
"The criminal case was opened in summer of 2016. The evidence allows us to suspend the person indicted. The Prosecutor once investigated the case of murder from Durlesti and that his actions have wrongfully convicted an innocent person for murder, and the man has spent over five and a half years in prison" , said Attorney general Eduard Harujen.
Andrei Craciun was sentenced to 21 years in prison for a double murder committed ten years ago.
Craciun was arrested for allegedly shoting two men in a field of Durlesti village.
In 2013, the Appeal Court ordered the payment of the man and the state paid him moral damages of one and half million lei.
