Extremist Pavel Grigorciuc, who physically assaulted Democrat Deputy Sergiu Sîrbu a week ago, will remain in custody at Penitentiary no. 13 of the Capital.
The Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the first instance, which issued a 30-day arrest warrant on 25 March.
However, lawyers insisted that Grigorciuc should be issued home arrest.
The measure was applied at the request of prosecutors, who said there was a risk of escape as the leader of the Antifa extremist organization is now serving four years of suspended custody, after a previous conviction, for mass disorder.
Now, the activist is being investigated for hooliganism, a crime that could jail him up to five years in prison.
