Republic of Moldova and Romania signed Security Declaration
Republic of Moldova will receive defense consultation from Romania. Deputies of Security and Defense Committees from both Chisinau and Bucharest have signed a declaration to begin a strategic partnership with this aim. The document foresees assistance being offered in developing the Armed Forces, carabineers, as well as parliamentary control in the defense field.
President of Committee on National Security, Defense and Public Order, Roman Boţan declared that such collaboration is necessary, as on Moldova's territories are located foreign troops.
"Today, we were visited for the first time by a delegation of the Committee for Defense Public Order, and National Security of the Parliament of Romania, led by president Dorel-Gheorghe Căprar."
The established relations between Republic of Moldova and Romania, offers our country the chance to continue the European Integration. Our joint history causes 2018 to be the hundredth anniversary of the Great Union, while 2019, when Romania will have the presidency of the European Council, will become the year of intensified cooperation to promote Moldova's strategic interest in its European track.
Today, April 23, a declaration was signed through which we support the enlargement and deepening at Parliamentary level of the Strategic Partnership with Romania for Republic of Moldova's European Integration. I believe this example can also be followed by other Parliamentary Committees, to consolidate inter-parliamentary relations at the Commissions level, which will contribute to fortify the strategic partnership between the two countries" President of Committee on National Security, Defense and Public Order, Roman Boţan said.
At the same time, President of Committee for Defense Public Order, and National Security, Dorel-Gheorghe Căprar greeted the establishment of NATO office in Chisinau, especially due to the daily security threat Moldova faces.
"I am glad that today we are together with our colleagues from Committee on National Security, Defense and Public Order, are setting a parliamentary path, and hope that all committees from both Parliament of Romania and Parliament of Moldova will follow our example. Through parliamentary dialogue and diplomacy we have an important role in supporting the cooperation between our countries. Cooperation which holds crucial aims of Romania and Republic of Moldova.
Today's declaration is a clear statement of both presidents from the two defense committees of the two parliaments, represents a common wish for the prosperity, safety and freedom of the citizens we represent. The declaration's main aim is to to extend and deepen at Parliamentary level the strategic partnership. To continue supporting the establishment and growth of Republic of Moldova's resilience. Reduce the effects of regional instability through diplomatic instruments.
Launching an intensified parliamentary dialogue, will represent a platform for mutual consultation where topics from the common agenda are discussed on the objectives and perspectives of bilateral relations. The officials announced that in the near future will be organized a trilateral meeting among Security Committees of Parliament from Chisinau, Bucharest and Kiev to speak of regional security.
