Republic of Moldova received 106 tractors worth 4.5 million USD from Japan (PHOTOREPORT)
Moldova received 106 tractors worth 4.5 million USD from Japan. This is the sixth tranche of the grant foreseeing technical assistance for farmers, within the 2KR project. Due to it, farmers can now purchase equipment under advantageous conditions.
"The tractor costs 535 000, we pay 50%, while the other 50% are paid in 2 years and its is very convenient for farmers, as it is a big investment" farmer Sergiu Brodescu said.
Farmers received keys to tractors within an official ceremony.
"To this moment we worked with a soviet tractor, purchased many years ago, we hope it will now ease our work" farmer Lidia Bezer said.
Some farmers, who previously purchased Japanese machines, praised its quality.
"The machines we purchased in 2004 are still like new, they work perfectly, have yet to break" farmer Dumitru Orescu said.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip claims that the project is meant to stimulate farmers to remain in Moldova.
"There is no point in wishing for better times. We will reach them once we use modern machines" Pavel Filip said.
"Such gestures shows that we are friends. I hope this initiative will have a positive impact upon the lives of Moldovans" Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Moldova, Masanobu Yoshii said.
Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Moldova claims that our wine is highly appreciated in Japan and that investment in agriculture bring results.
"Our wine is loved in Japan and this country wished to help Moldova's agriculture for us to continue manufacturing quality wine" Ambassador of Moldova to Japan, Vasile Bumacov said.
Through the 2KR project, farmers need to initially pay only 50% for an machine, the rest of the money being paid during 2 years.
