Romania plans to purchase an electric utility from Moldova
President of Social Democratic Party of Romania, Liviu Dragnea has announced, during a coalition meeting of the Government, Romania's intention of purchasing an electric utility from Republic of Moldova. The party leader has also added that the idea came from Prime Minister Mihai Tudose.
"He presented his idea, namely using a Romanian state enterprise to purchase an electric utility in Republic of Moldova and it has our political support, as it is a good economic and strategic measure for Romania and not only", Liviu Dragnea said.
Leader of the Social Democratic Party has not mentioned which company from the country the intend to acquire, but Romanian press believes it to be "Transgaz", which owns an Iași - Ungheni gas pipe.
Next month, the Government of Romania and Republic of Moldova will meet in a common session at Chisinau. The Cabinet of Ministers of both countries have already met in March, at Piatra Neamţ.
The main topic discussed at the time by Pavel Filip and Sorin Grindeanu was the project of building a Iași-Chișinău gas pipe and the possibility of lengthening the Târgu Mureş-Iaşi-Ungheni highway to Chişinău. In September, Romania has transferred to Moldova the final tranche of the 150 million euro loan.
