Romanian MFE stated Moldova's elections conducted in compliance with legal provisions and democratic standards
Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFE) of Romania considers that the February 24th parliamentary elections of Moldova were conducted in compliance with legal provisions and democratic standards.
Romanian MFA believes that the follow-up stages of electoral process take place responsibly, in compliance with the democratic standards and principles necessary to ensure the stability and the preservation of the European perspective of the Republic of Moldova.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs took note of the preliminary report presented by the International Election Observation Mission to the Republic of Moldova held on 24 February 2019. According to the preliminary assessment, the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova were generally carried out respecting legal provisions and democratic standards in the field, with some shortcomings registered both in the context of the electoral campaign and on election day.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses that it is very important that the follow-up stages of the electoral process be carried out in a responsibly, respecting the democratic standards and principles necessary to ensure the stability and preservation of the European perspective of the Republic of Moldova. In this way, we believe that only the European option is able to bring sustainable responses to the legitimate prosperity expectations of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, "the communiqué said.
