"Dear President of the European Council,
Dear President of the European Commission,
Romania, as a member state of the European Union, having a special relationship with the Republic of Moldova, based on the Strategic Partnership for European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, and sharing a common language, history and culture, is concerned with the developments in Chisinau.
In our opinion, the Republic of Moldova, an associate partner of the European Union through the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement and, at the same time, a member of the Eastern Partnership, is currently facing a serious constitutional and political crisis, for its stability.
Moreover, as far as you know, this crisis, in the immediate vicinity of Romania and the European Union, presents significant stakes for regional stability and security that the European Union and its Member States can not ignore.
I firmly believe that the European Union as a whole, in line with the commitments made to the Republic of Moldova through the European Neighborhood Policy, as well as through the Global Strategy of the European Union, must stand up to the expectations of the Republic of Moldova citizens, who the majority have expressed their support for their country's European agenda, as confirmed in the February 2019 parliamentary elections.
In this context, I urge you, as a matter of urgency, to identify together with the Member States of the European Union concrete actions to put an end to the current situation through a negotiated solution in the Republic of Moldova, based on the values and principles of the European Union .
Romania is ready to support these efforts in full compliance with our strategic objective, which is also the objective of the European Union to support the European path of the Republic of Moldova. "
