The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova states, after multiple misinterpretations by the Russian press and officials, that, in a letter to the UN General Secretary, Chisinau does not require the withdrawal of peacekeeping troops from the Transnistrian region but the soldiers staying illegally there.

According to a press release, the information disseminated by the Russian press distorts the initiative of the Republic of Moldova.

Previously, even Russia's representative at UN, Vasili Nebenzea, has wrongly interpreted Chisinau's letter.

The official claims that Moldova requested the withdrawal of peacekeeping troops, while our representative at UN submitted a request for the removal of the last remnants of the 14th Army left there to guard the ammunition storage in Cobasna.

On Wednesday Chisinau submitted a request for raising the issue of extracting the Russian troops from the territory of the Republic of Moldova to the agenda of the next UN General Assembly session, which will start on September 12th.
