Sandu Cabinet to ask for loan to purchase gas
Sandu Cabinet tries to avoid possible gas crisis by asking for urgent loan in order to buy and store about 400 million m3 of gas in the first two months of 2020. Moldovan Economy Minister Vadim Brînzan discussed this topic with Deputy Director-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Katariná Mathernová in Brussels.
According to ANRE data, 482 million m3 of gas were delivered to the final consumers in Moldova in the first quarter of last year.
Asked by Publika, the ministry press service couldn't say how much the state needs to make reservations.
Officials in Brussels discussed the idea of building a gas storage warehouse in Moldova. Publika sent an official letter to the ministry to find out further details about this project.
The Russian company Gazprom is the only supplier for our country. We can run out of natural gas in case Russian gas is transited through Ukraine.
