Multiple villagers from Horeşti, Ialoveni district, are infuriated by the fact that fruit trees were illegally cut down. People claim that those trees were planted back in the 90s and everyone had the right to harvest fruits from them.

"If the tree gives harvest it must not be cut down, I understand that clean up must be done, but cutting them down for firewood and storing them is illegal" a villager from Horeşti declared.

"We ate fruits from those trees when passing by, but now everything was liquidated. People who cut them down worked all winter" anther villager said.

The enterprise's president, who resigned, is supposedly guilty. He could not be found to offer comments.

"I called him and asked what is happening, as people started complaining of fruit trees being cut down" company's interim president, Ion Cociug said.

Villagers demanded justice from the mayor, member of PLDM, but he did not know how to proceed.

"The works were done for months and the mayor claims to have no knowledge of it, how it is possible? This is illegal."

"We requested the City Hall to examine the case, to see why the trees were cut down without the City Hall's permission, as the land belongs to it" local councilman from Horeşti village, Iurie Carabeţ declared.

Nearly 50 meters of wood are now sitting in storage, while the guard claimed that they were brought by the cooperative's president.

The local Mayor was not found in the office. By phone, Petru Cigoreanu declared that the wood will be following sold to the village's elders.

"We requested the Ecology Department to investigate the case, for measures to be taken and the guilty punished. I believe the City Hall will confiscate the wood and the will give it to the elders" Mayor of Horeşti declared.

In Horeşti village live over 3 600 people.
