The Government will increase by 5% the scholarships offered to pupils and students, starting January 1, 2018. The decision was approved today and aims to stimulate pupils' and students' academic achievements.

The scholarships will increase for pupils from professional schools, graduate and undergraduate students, PhD students, postdoctoral scholars, clinicians and residents. Therefore, students who received to this point 800 lei will now be given 840 lei, while pupils will receive 660 lei in place of 630 lei.

At the same time, PhD students who used to receive 1050 lei will now have 1100 lei, while 1st year residents will receive 1455 lei, in place of 1385 lei. The government scholarship has also increased from 1155 lei to 1210 lei.

The rise will allow higher educational institutions to become more attractive and increase competitiveness, as well as fortify professional education in Republic of Moldova.
