SCM to reject hiding identity of people on trial. Justice Minister's statement
The justice minister has posted a Facebook message saying that he has asked the SCM not to approve the "depersonalization" of court rulings.
This message came when more journalists announced protests tomorrow against a decision that would disallow to publish the names of the people involved in the pending trials but also following their sentences.
I notice the interest in the CSM project on the "depersonalization" of the court judgments, but also the speculation that has been launched in this respect, and I feel compelled to intervene with the following clarifications:
1. I asked the SCM not to examine or approve tomorrow the draft Regulation on the publication of judgments and to support colleagues in this regard;
2. The draft Regulation will be further discussed, including with foreign experts, to ensure that we have the best international standards transposed;
3. Even today, in a discussion with the Council of Europe, we asked for assistance in examining the draft Regulation to ensure that it is in line with the practice of the member states of the Council of Europe and especially the Member States of the European Union.
