The deputy chief of the police unit fighting human trafficking, Iurie Podarilov, has been indicted.

He and an accomplice will be trialed for influence peddling. They had asked a citizen for EUR30,000 to end a criminal case.

They were arrested as they were receiving the first installment of EUR10,000.

The two police officers risk up to six years of jail and fines of up to $10,000.
