Sentence for former Transport Minister, Iurie Chirinciuc is to be handed down by Chisinau Court this afternoon.

The former officer acknowledged his blame, which led the case to be examined under simplified regime.

Iurie Chirinciuc is accused of corruption. According to the investigation, the former minister along with the heads of 2 construction companies, organized a scheme illegally obtaining financial buck with particularly large proportions.

The defendants exerted pressure on a firm of winning bidding funded by the European Investment Bank in order to compel it to yield part of the volume of affiliated businesses. Chirinciuc is under judicial control.
