Simulating cyber attacks: A cyber security training for officials
Representatives from cyber-security institutions will participate in a simulation exercise for the first time in Moldova. For three days, international experts will share their experience with our country.
Over 50 representatives from the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Intelligence and Security, the General Inspectorate of Police, and the Ministry of Justice will learn how to act in case of a cyber attack.
"The exercise was done at the operational level, staff training, capacity building institution for the reaction, connecting them to a network of data to be as efficient in their every day work" , said Deputy Minister of Information Technology and Communications, Vitalie Tarlev.
Foreign experts say that is not the first collaboration with Moldovan specialists.
"We've worked together before in different fields such as information technology, communications and now test capabilities in the cyber domain. The field is related to information security of the entire country, from Parliament, Government, ministries, government agencies", said the expert of " European Cyber Security Initiative", Lauri Almann.
According to experts of our country, the main problem of cyber sector is lack of professionalism.
"The human factor is the biggest problem. Even with those technologies implemented in the institution, the lack of the human factor to manage those solutions is the problem" , said the head Center for Special Telecommunications specified in Moldova, Natalia Spinu.
The training started November 28th at the initiative of European Cyber Security. The financial support is provided by the United Nations Agency for International Development and the Foreign Ministry of Estonia.
