A man was killed and another man's leg was crushed, after the car they were driving struck a tree.

The alive man and woman were seriously injured and hospitalized later. 

The incident occurred last night, near Rudi in Soroca. According to the police, it would be due to excessive speed.

"All circumstances have been identified. If the driver is found guilty, he is at risk from 4 to 8 years of imprisonment," IP Soroca's press officer said, Ludmila Sochirca.

Following the accident, the driver was subjected to surgery and the passenger was interned in the resuscitation department.

"They were involved in such serious road accident, two people, a man and a woman aged 28 and 35, with multiple trauma, with cranio-cerebral trauma, multi-fractured poly-masturbation. The male's right leg was crushed and he took an amputation later, "Sorina District Hospital Nina Spoiala said.

Since the beginning of this year, more than 1,600 accidents have occurred in the Republic of Moldova due to exceeding the speed limit.
