A team of Moldovan doctors works on a research meant to outline the factors leading to strokes.
Being carried out in different localities from Moldova, preliminary results show that 50% of 300 investigated people suffer from high blood pressure. Half of them were not aware they had the disease and only 1/3 got treatment.
In 2015, 72,000 Moldovans had strokes, as the number has doubled for the last eight years.
The key causes are the thromboses, high blood pressure and migraines. Doctors say an unhealthy life style also leads to a surge in incidence.
As many as 2,000 will be investigated in the study.
