Suburbs of the Capital will gain better roads in 2018. The municipality has allocated one million lei for each of the 18 settlements. Each year, the money will be transferred to the City Halls and not Transport and Communication Directorate as it was previously done.

"Next year, the City Halls from the Capital will directly receive the money in their budget, so that they will be able to act as soon as possible to solve the roads issue" interim Mayor of Chisinau, Silvia Radu declared.

Mayor of Durleşti, Eleonora Şaran, claims that the new procedure is more simple and efficient.

"Earlier all those things were done though Transport and Communication Directorate and the 18 City Halls were standing in line waiting for our turn to come, for repair works to begin. Now, each City Hall will be able to organize road repair works and perform them at the same time" Eleonora Şaran said.

Drivers from Durleşti claims that basically all roads from the settlement require repair works.

"Look at this road, I live from this side and need to repair the car weekly" a driver said.

"They should begin with Ialoveni St., as it is still bearable here, but there, it is all in ruins, all roads need to be repaired" another driver said.

Villagers from Budeşti have also expressed displeasure regarding the roads.

"It is more difficult when there is mud" a resident said.

"We take two pair of shoes and have to change them at the station, the bag with the muddy ones we leave at our acquaintances that live nearby" another resident said.

According to the Mayor, from the allocated money will be repaired close to 3 000 square meters of road.

"We hope to gain additional funds, we will search to move forward and become a more comfortable village" Mayor of Budeşti, Nina Costiuc said.

Each year, each City Hall received 100 thousand each for the maintenance and repair works of one km of road.
