Sunday's torrential rain destroyed a section of road on the Chisinau-Ungheni highway.

The State Road Administration mentions in a statement that the water evacuation works in the respective area have not been completed yet and that the embankment collapsed due to the large amount of precipitation. If it turns out that the contractor is to blame, he will remedy the situation on his own, so that the project budget will not be harmed.

The renovation works of the Chisinau-Ungheni road, with a length of almost 100 km, began in 2014 and were to be completed in 2016. Five contracts were concluded for this road, two with a company from Azerbaijan, two with one from Czech Republic and one with a Moldovan company.

The total budget of the works is 80 million euros, credit from external partners.
