Supreme Court of Justice President Ion Druță under 72-hour detention

President of Supreme Court of Justice Ion Druță was detained for 72 hours today.
According to the Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office, Druță would have profited from his status and influenced other people who are to be heard within a criminal file.
He was asked to make statements in a case he is suspected of illicit enrichment.
Publika recalls that many objects were found in his office and his home that would confirm his guilt. He submitted a request for resignation on Tuesday.
Ion Druță was elected as President of the Supreme Court of Justice in April 2018 for a term of four years.
In June, Druță was dismissed and reinstated a month later. Last week, his immunity was withdrawn at the request of acting general prosecutor Dumitru Robu.
