Sweden - Moldova bilateral cooperation discussed in Chisinau
Sweden - Moldova bilateral cooperation within international institutions were discussed today within a meeting of Secretaries of State Tatiana Molcean and Daniela Morari with Andreas von Beckerath, head of a department from the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The meeting was also attended by Signe Burgstaller, Sweden ambassador to Moldova.
The topics were based on the implementation of EU Association Agreement, Republic of Moldova's priorities within the Eastern Partnership, strengthening the rule of law and regulating the Transnistrean conflict. The common interest for the continuation of interministerial contacts was mentioned, through bilateral visits and international events.
The Moldovan officials expressed their gratitude to Sweeden for the assistance offered to our country in realizing the reform agenda and Republic of Moldova's European path, as well as a co-founder of the Eastern Partnership. Sweden being among the first 5 countries to donate to Republic of Moldova.
Sweden diplomats mentioned the importance of an open political dialogue, reiterating the support and encouraging Moldova's European adherence, as well as consolidation of democracy in Republic of Moldova. Here, implementation of reforms benefiting the citizens was encouraged, generating a positive impact upon the citizens' well-being.
Secretary of State Tatiana Molcean has also participated at the Forum on gender equality, organized in Stockholm, on April 16-17, highlighting the interest Government of Sweden has toward this problem.
