Tens of thousands of trees were planted today across the country in a campaign launched by the Democratic Party. From the sea to the sea, people went out to turn the countryside, at the appeal of local DPM organizations.
Democrats say they want to turn Moldova into an environmentally sound and healthy country. Most volunteers gathered the DPM organization from Balti, where 800 people planted about 20,000 trees.
"We turn all these hills, we plant here many seedlings to transform the place into the forest. We want to give the future generation the opportunity to live in an ecological city", said DPM deputy Vladimir Vitiuc.
"By sowing and turning green we are doing a good thing to try and stop these landslides that are near the town's pond."
"I hope that people will like trees, that it will be fresh air".
Approximately 500 lime and maple seedlings were planted in the Ciocana sector in Chisinau. The action started with a training course by the former Minister of Ecology, Violeta Ivanov.
"For this tree we dig about 40 cm, then wet and then we cover with the ground as the tree catches. It is a very beautiful initiative of the Democratic Party", said DPM deputy, Violeta Ivanov.
"It's easy when you're doing it with pleasure and you know it has a beneficial effect not only on our individual, but also on the whole community."
Democrats say they care about the environment and want to give a good example to future generations.
"To have a greener, more beautiful city, to have as much oxygen as possible".
"If we do not do it, I do not think anybody else will do it".
"We strive to promote healthy lifestyles, environmental protection, and for this young generation who is with me the love of clean environment, the love of engagement, civic spirit and the great love and respect for the homeland," said the president Moldovan Democratic Youth, Alexandru Cauia.
Last year, in the DPM campaign "Together We Plant a Future", nearly one million trees were planted.
