“The Chisinau Ghetto, 1941-1942” Book presentation at History Museum
U.S. Embassy has invited the media to the presentation of “The Chisinau Ghetto, 1941-1942” – a book by Paul A. Shapiro, Director of International Affairs and Director Emeritus of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
The work is the result of extensive research and was presented yesterday, February 9th, at an event attended by Culture Minister Monica Babuc and James Pettit, American Ambassador to Moldova.
The book is the first major study of the historical events surrounding the creation, administration, and liquidation of the Chisinau Ghetto from June 1941 until May 1942. Based on archival documents, the book describes in detail the mass killings of Jews in Chisinau.
The officials present at the event said that a people can not live without knowing the true history, and such books come to light in our past.
