The Vignette system of the Republic of Moldova will be modified. Today, the Parliament will examine a project to change some acts in the road tax system.

The initiative belongs to a group of deputies and was supported, during the first reading, by most MPs.

The project foresees the implementation of a mechanism for the application of the vignette for vehicles not registered in Republic of Moldova - minibuses, buses, trucks and trailers, replacing the current road tax system at the entrance and transit of the country. The new mechanism foresees reduction of the tax for using the roads in the Republic of Moldova for such vehicles depending on their stay in the country.

The new system foresees tax for 1 day, 7 days, 15 days, 30 days, 90 days, 180 days and 12 months. It will be available starting 00:00 local time of the requested day and will expire on 00:00 local time on the last day of the period for which the tax was paid.

The project also seeks to change the road transport schedule for the introduction of a new route, extending the route, increasing the number of routes, introducing stations or changing the timetable hours.

The project will be voted in the final reading.
