Transgaz will sign a contract to privatize Vestmoldtransgaz
Today, Romanian operator Transgaz will sign a contract to privatize Vestmoldtransgaz. Works will soon begin to build the gas pipeline Ungheni-Chişinău.
The declaration was made by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, at "Moldova în Direct" TV show on Moldova 1 channel.
"This is an important event. I wish for this gas pipeline to be build by the end of my mandate, so that I will be able to proudly state that Republic of Moldova gained energy security while I was at the helm" Prime Minister declared.
Pavel Filip mentioned that a state is always in danger if it has a single gas supplier, while sources of natural gas represents an energy security issue of Moldova.
The official also mentioned that to ensure energy security to the country, the suppliers were diversified: 30% of the necessary electricity is purchased from Ukraine, while the rest 70% from Kuchurgan power station. Here, Pavel Filip claims that electricity prices might lower by 8-9%.
"Because a new fee calculation method was approved and taking into consideration all elements from this chapter, I believe that electricity prices might go down" Prime Minister declared.
