Council of Europe was and remains a trusted partner of Republic of Moldova, as well as a strong example of democracy. The declaration was made by Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, during the 128th meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, that unfolds at Helsingør, Denmark.

In his speech, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi spoke of the challenges the Council of Europe and European countries face, such promoting responsibility and common values to ensure democratic security in Europe.

The Moldovan official reiterated the support Council of Europe offers to Republic of Moldova, in the effort to modernize and promote reforms, especially combating corruption, increase independence and efficiency of the justice system and consolidating the freedom of mass media, implementation of the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2017-2020. In the context of regulating prolonged conflicts, including the one with Transnistria, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi evoked the necessity of measures to consolidate trust and respect over human rights, particularly was highlighted the importance of offering the Council of Europe the situation of schools from Transnistria that teach in the Latin alphabet.

Within the session, Ministers of Foreign affairs of the 47 member states approved a number of decisions on the 5th annual report of the Secretary-General on the situation of human rights, democracy and the rule of law in Europe, that includes the protection of human rights according to the European Convention, to ensure an Europe without death penalties, reactions to technological developments, improving the coordination and activity of monitoring bodies; modernizing the Council of Europe Secretariat, including its management and structure.

At the same time, was brought into force and forwarded for signing the Protocol amending the Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data (ETS No. 108).
