Tudor Ulianovschi: Swiss supports are potent influence on Moldova's citizens and sustainable development
The Swiss assistance to Moldova is valuable both to the needs of citizens and to the state strategies of sustainable development, it has been said by Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tudor Ulianovschi during a meeting with the Swiss Deputy State Secretary, Krystyna Marty Lang, who is in Chisinau on the launch of the Cooperation Strategy with Moldova for the period 2018-2021.
In this context, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi emphasized that Switzerland is one of the main partners of Moldova with a significant number of projects in strategic areas for the development of the country through the Swiss Cooperation Office in Chisinau.
Head of Moldovan diplomacy stressed that Chisinau authorities appreciate Switzerland's efforts to help our problems in important areas such as health, potable water supply, migration and development.
"These are punctual areas which are selected with Moldova's experts to ensure the usefulness of the aid. Supports from Switzerland address the most necessary areas for our society and create vital conditions for sustainable development of our country", said Moldovan Minister Tudor Ulianovschi.
In turn, Krystyna Marty Lang appreciated good cooperation with Moldova and expressed his country's willingness to intensify bilateral cooperation, including initiating new projects that would cover different spheres of social, economic, educational, cultural life, etc.
In the opinion of the two officials, a good example of the Moldovan-Swiss cooperation is the launch of a new Cooperation Strategy with Moldova for the years 2018-2021, which cost Swiss Government about 800 million lei.
Minister Tudor Ulianovschi stressed that the expansion of bilateral relations is a good opportunity to emphasize the friendly character of the Moldovan-Swiss cooperation.
The strategy is coordinated at country level by the Swiss Cooperation Office, which is the local office of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Embassy of Switzerland Embassy in Moldova.
In the next four years, the SDC, in close cooperation with Moldovan Government, the private sector and the civil society, aims to contribute to the welfare of the population and the cohesion of the Moldovan society, giving priority to the social inclusion of the marginalized groups.
In view of the development priorities of Moldova, Swiss technical and financial assistance will be given to three domains: (1) local government, (2) health, (3) economic development and employment. With Swiss support, programs and development projects will be implemented all regions of the country.
Switzerland is the fourth largest donor to our country. Since 2010, the Republic of Moldova benefited from assistance worth about 85 million Swiss francs (aproximately 1.5 billion lei).
