UNICEF Country Program discussed by Pavel Filip and Nune Mangasarya
The priorities of new UNICEF Country Program were discussed by Prime Minister, Pavel Filip and the UNICEF representative in Moldova, Nune Mangasaryan, who ends her mandate in Moldova.
Pavel Filip thanked the official for her personal contribution to the elaboration of child protection, justice reform as well as public health which was approved last week by Parliament.
During the mandate of UNICEF representative in Moldova, the number of children in residential institutions has been reduced by 5 times as a result of the justice reform.
Children in detention has dropped 3 times, while the number of children with special needs and disabilities studying in general schools has increased 4 times.
In turn, Nune Mangasaryan said that these results were enabled due to national program signed by UNICEF and the Moldovan government.
The UNICEF representative has announced that a new country program for 2018-2022 will be approved in September, which will be based on two priorities: providing sensitive, fair systems & services for children and social change in children's rights.
Currently, 9 projects funded and implemented by the UNICEF are underway in the Republic of Moldova, in the period 2013-2017, with a total commitment amount of 6.71 million euros.
