Unpleasant odour in Chisinau caused damages of about MDL 70M: Prosecutors
The General Prosecutor's Office initiated a lawsuit on water and air pollution in the municipality of Chisinau, as well as on the mismanagement of the financial means, which resulted in damages of worth about 70 million lei.
According to the prosecutors, the technological process at the Chisinau City Wastewater Treatment Plant was not respected which brought forth the air pollution in the municipality of Chisinau and the water of the Bâc river.
According to the quoted source, the non-observance of the technological process caused damages to the environment worth 39,616,661.54 lei.
Prosecutors discovered irregularities also in the work of decision-makers from the Apa-Canal Chisinau stock company.
Prosecutors have found inconsistencies incompatible with the law on the management of financial means, invested for the maintenance of the technological process of wastewater treatment.
Therefore, these irregularities committed by the leadership of the Apa-Canal Chisinau have inflicted another damages worth 30,365,000 lei.
