Valeriu Ghileţchi elected as president of PACE Commission for ECHR judges election

Valeriu Ghileţchi was elected president of the PACE Commission for the election of ECHR judges.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe elected today the Vice-President of the Moldovan Parliament, Valeriu Ghileţchi, as chairman of the Commission for the election of judges of the European Court of Human Rights.
This event is a premiere for Moldova, Ghileţchi being the first Moldovan MP elected in this position. The Commission led by the deputy speaker of the Parliament in Chişinău is responsible for hearing candidates from the member states of the Council of Europe to the ECHR judge.
"It is a great responsibility personally and nationally, I have the honor to lead the key role in the selection process of the judges of the most important European justice institution," Valeriu Ghileţchi said.
The Deputy Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament has a vast experience in European Parliamentarianism for over 12 years. Previously, Valeriu Ghileţchi was, in turn, the chair of the Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development, and vice-president of PACE.
