Vice-Prime Minister Iurie Leanca met with the President of the Bucharest Senate, Calin Popescu-Tariceanu
Vice-Prime Minister for European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, Iurie Leanca, recently made a working visit to Bucharest, which is part of the natural course of the permanent multilateral dialogue between the two countries' authorities.
During the visit, the official had meetings with Senate President Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, Vice-Prime Minister for Strategic Projects, Ana Birchall, Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu, Minister of Public Finance Eugen Teodorovici and other officials.
The agenda of the talks was the relations with the European Union and the role of Romania in the context of the 1 January 2019 presidency of the Council of the EU Council, the size of the bilateral relations in the context of the Centenary and the new projects to be initiated with Romania's financial support, from the two countries and other topics of common interest.
With a view to deepening and further diversifying bilateral co-operation, it was agreed that a new joint meeting of the Governments of the two countries should held by the end of the year.
"The Republic of Moldova will continue its road to modernization of the country in line with the commitments made under the Moldova-EU Association Agreement". Romania is a very precious friend in achieving these goals, both Chisinau authorities and the population of the Republic of Moldova know and appreciate this", said Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca.
Representatives of the Romanian authorities have assured that Romania will continue to support the implementation of vital reforms for Moldova and its European integration path that it wants irreversibly, stressing that only the European option can bring concrete responses to the expectations of prosperity, security, stability of citizens.
In the context of European issues, officials from Bucharest presented the concept of the EU Council Presidency, which Romania will exercise in the first half of 2019, and assured that they will pay more attention to our country.
