Vlad Plahotniuc: Implementation of the recommendations of the Venice Commission to start in the near future
The topic of the PDM delegation visit to Brussels was discussed today, June 16th, at the press conference by Democratic Party leader, Vlad Plahotniuc. Thus he remarked that Moldova was praised and the Government's effort on the implementation of this year's reforms was appreciated. Also, one of the most important topic discussed was the change of the electoral voting system and the recommendations of the Venice Commission.
"I can assure you these recommendations have solutions. We will start working on it in the next days. Experts, politicians and representatives of civil society will work on it."
Vlad Plahotniuc also appealed the opposition to have a more constructive attitude towards the recommendations of the Venice Commission.
"I am sure that the electoral reform will be implemented just like the citizens of Moldova want it to be. It's time for the opposition to have a more constructive attitude and the change to be done jointly."
Towards the end, the PDM chairman has addressed the speculations on the voting system reform and the EU funding for Moldova.
"It is hard to imagine how the EU could stop financing a country just because people are given the right to choose their own MPs. Some politicians in Moldova are putting pressure on the EU for Moldovans to be punished because they dare to ask for the right to directly vote for deputies at the next elections.
