Vladimir Munteanu: Base rate will continue to decline in 2018
The base rate will continue to decline in 2018, states First Deputy Governor of the National Bank (NBM) Vladimir Munteanu, in a press briefing. Accordingly, bank credits will become more affordable and macro-economic stability will be expected.
"It dropped from 12.35% to 9.8% last year, probably falling further due to two factors - the relatively low level of the base rate and sufficient liquidity in the banking system. Impact from potential decrease in the loan rates is obvious, it will increase the accessibility to financing for the economic agents, "said the first deputy governor of the NBM, Vladimir Munteanu.
Moreover, the NBM leader said that this year, stable relation between euro and dollar will maintain.
Forecasts also show that in 2018 the consumer price index will be 3.7 percent and for 2019 4.7 percent. Inflation was 7.3% at the end of 2017.
