World Bank finances the provision of science laboratory to 160 schools
160 schools in Moldova will be provided with equipment for physics, chemistry and biology laboratories. The action takes place within the Project "Education Reform in Moldova" (PRIM), financially supported by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Research Education (MECC).
The educational institutions that will benefit from equipment for laboratories were selected following a competition attended by 270 schools from all Moldovan districts, says a statement from the Ministry.
"Priority was given to the educational institutions that are located in the localities with a demographic perspective and offer a child-friendly environment. The schools must have a number of not less than 400 students and specialized cabinets for physics, chemistry and biology", specified Natalia Grîu , Secretary of State at MECC.
Within the project, about 500 physics, chemistry and biology teachers from 160 schools are expected to be trained.
The project "Education Reform in Moldova" is implemented between 2013-2022. The total budget of the Project is 50 million dollars, offered as a preferential loan by the World Bank.
