A young man, aged 20, was shot dead after, together with two friends, swimming at a recreation center in Hânceşti. A criminal case for intentional killing was opened in this case, and two people were detained, according to Deputy Prosecutor General, Igor Popa.

According to the information, the case occurred last night around 1:00 a.m The three young, three friends, decided to cool off in the swimming pool outside of the program hours without asking permission from the leisure center administration.

Previously the owner complained to the police that more people enter the center outside the program and cause damage.

Igor Popa said that in order to catch the suspects, the owner of the center and the criminal police chief of the Hânceşti Police Inspectorate decided to organize an ambush.

"While the young people were in the pool without permission, the owner and the police officers quickly approached and shot a few in the air and in the direction of one of the young men who left the pool and headed for the exit. Consequently, the 20-year-old man died in the Hânceşti district hospital and the cause of death is by shooting, "Deputy Prosecutor General Igor Popa said.

According to Popa, several people, including the other two young people who were on the scene, were heard.

The head of the Police General Inspectorate, Alexandru Pînzari, said that this is not ordinary case, and the investigation is about to determine whether or not the policeman exceeded his job duties.

Following the incident, two people were detained: the owner of recreation center and the criminal police head of Hânceşti.

In this case, a criminal case for intentional killing was opened. The file is under the Chişinău prosecutors' administration.

Both the young man and the two young people involved in this incident have no criminal record.
