Electricity from citric fruits and pickled cucumbers. That’s what the children from the summer camp "ENERGEL" managed to get.

The children displayed creativity and invented new technologies producing renewable power. The camp "ENERGEL" gets together 55 children from localities where biomass thermal plants were put to work. 

"At this event, with the children, we want to be able to promote the importance of producing green energy, as in a country relying on power imports 98 % it is crucially important to have renewable power sources," Economy deputy minister Valeriu Triboi said.

"Moldova’s power resources are not very diversified, but the country has got other sources of sustainable energy: biomass, agriculture, that can create cheaper energy and create new jobs," said the head of the EU delegation to Moldova, Pirkka Tapiola.

The "ENERGEL" summer camp is at its fifth edition and is part of a project funded by the European Union.
