A senior police officer working for the Frontier Police in the northern district of Briceni has been held up for influence peddling.

He had told the informer – a Ukrainian – he could have freed his arrested car, after talking to seniors and prosecutors.

He asked the Ukrainian for EUR2,5000 for the deal.

Now he risks five years in jail and a fine of about $7,500.
