25 young people, members of the National Council of students from technical vocational education in the country, participated today at the workshop How to become a deputy, moderated by the president of the Parliamentary commission, appointments and immunities, Raisa Apolschii, on the occasion of the Moldovan Parliament Days. 

The purpose of the workshop is to inform and encourage young people to become involved in the decision-making process. The young people learned how deputies were elected, simulated the process of debating and adopting a bill, and were informed about the day-to-day work of deputies.

Deputy Raisa Apolschii referred to parliamentary committees, plenary sessions and the legislative registration, drafting and adoption of laws. According to the Chairman of the Legal Commission, Appointments and Immunities, the work of a deputy also involves displacements in the territory to discuss with voters, to hear their wishes and to identify solutions, including legislation.

"The working week is not just the plenary sessions, but also a whole range of other activities. It is important that we all, the MPs and the voters get involved and come with proposals, to work, so that the Republic of Moldova is the way we want, "said Raisa Apolschii.

In turn, the students appreciated the discussions and activities they attended, asked questions about the legislative procedures and actively involved in simulating the proposed exercise.

The Workshop "How to become a deputy" was a pilot. By the end of the year, at the initiative of the Andrian Candu Parliament Speaker, a network of Ambassadors of Parliamentary Democracy among young people from across the country is to be established. They will be trained and will then share the knowledge they have gained with their peers in their home town. The project is part of Andrian Candu's initiative to stimulate civic activism and encourage people's involvement in decision-making.

The National Council of Students of Technical Vocational Education is a representative and consultative structure of students in vocational schools and colleges of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research. This is a platform where the achievements and challenges facing young people in the education system are discussed. The Council is formed, for the study year 2017 - 2018, of 36 young people, representatives of vocational schools, colleges and schools of excellence.

In February, members of the National Council of Students of Technical Vocational Education visited the Parliament and discussed the achievements and challenges of the education system with the speaker Andrian Candu. Following the meeting, a partnership was established with the College of Fine Arts Alexandru Plămădeală to promote young talents through the organization of some exhibitions in the Parliament. The first exhibition was presented between 2 and 10 April this year.
