Message of President Igor Dodon on Independence Day (video)
President Igor Dodon also came with a congratulatory message on this important day - Independence Day of Moldova.
"Dear compatriots,
28 years ago, on August 27, 1991, the Independence of the Republic of Moldova was proclaimed. That exceptional historical moment offered us the opportunity to build our country, economy, society, future with our own efforts.
Since then, the Moldovan society has undergone major transformations, the lives of each of us have changed profoundly, we have accumulated memories, pains and joys. We have lost close people, we have created families, we have given birth to children, we have raised new generations. In the short recent history of the Republic of Moldova we have had all the good and the bad.
Many of us have witnessed this history and we all understand that it is still a lot of work, much to be built in our country, that it will be in line with our hopes and expectations. But it is important that today we are inspired by a common project, political understanding, a vision of the future, which motivates us and gives us the power to believe that the good things for Moldova are just beginning.
We have sufficient human and intellectual potential to become a modern and fulfilled state, and if we continue to demonstrate politeness and political maturity, if we are supportive and well-intended, we will achieve the highest goals for the country and leave the next generations a strong and prosperous Moldova.
Dear fellow citizens!
I want to mention particularly that this year we are also celebrating an important jubilee - the 660th anniversary of Moldovan statehood. Moldova is not today or yesterday - it is centuries old. We are a state with an old, rich, medieval history. We have what we are proud of, we have where to learn.
My desire, my request to each of you is not to give up hope, not to give up your own country, not to stop living, working and dreaming about a better future in Moldova and for Moldova.
Congratulations, my dear!
Moldova, we love you," President Igor Dodon wrote on Facebook page.
August 27 is the Independence Day when Moldova commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence from the Soviet Union on 27 August 1991.
