African swine fever targeted a big pig farm in Cahul

African swine fever has spread in the Cahul district, targeting a farm of 63 pigs in Cucoara, announces the National Agency for Food Safety. These animals will be slaughtered, ANSA representatives say.
Besides, two pigs in a household in Cimişlia district, Gura Galbenei village were also slaughtered for this virus. Authorities have established a protection zone and a surveillance zone around outbreaks and are checking pigs if they are infected with the virus.
Currently, 11 active outbreaks of swine fever are registered in the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The most affected being the Cahul district, with seven outbreaks, followed by Cantemir with two cases. At the same time, an outbreak was registered in Nisporeni and Cimişlia.
