Alarming! Over 20 cases of measles recorded in last three months
Over 20 cases of measles have been confirmed in the last three months in Moldova. Specialists claim that most patients are children who have infected in Ukraine.
Most cases, 13 in number, were recorded in the Capital. On Monday, three children aged between six months and nine years were diagnosed with this virus. They would have come into contact with a relative who was visiting Ukraine. The little ones were not vaccinated.
Health Minister Svetlana Cebotari says the epidemic threshold has not yet been reached and urges all parents to vaccinate their children.
"I regret to note that these cases are imported from neighboring countries, where there really are some pre-epidemic situations," Svetlana Cebotari, Health Minister, said.
According to specialists, the most effective measure to prevent the disease is vaccination.
"It is good to vaccinate, many are afraid of some post-vaccine complications, "said the pediatrician, Mihai Stratulat.
According to statistics, the virus is spreading to neighboring countries as well. In Ukraine, only 1300 people have become ill in a week, and nearly 19,000 cases have been recorded since the beginning of the year. And in Romania there were almost 14,000 cases of illnesses and 55 deaths
