In March 2014, Ziarul de Garda published an investigation on the empire, connections and huge fortune of Mihail Gofman, then having the position of deputy chief of Money Laundering Prevention and Control Service of CNA. The appearance of that investigation left Gofman without his position, reacting on it the prime minister of that time, Iurie Leanca, at which request, the CNA administration firing Gofman from his position.

During the investigation published on Today.md, the journalists have managed to take in their possession documents which prove the fact that the enterprise Gofma Consulting SRL, controlled by Mihail Gofman (even its name suggests it), registered only formally on the name of the founder Dumitru Taraburca, was involved directly in the rifling of Banca de Economii. This company has evaluated the guarantees for many unregistered loans given by BEM, in the period when Grigore Gacikevici was president of the bank, and the bank was managed by the Government led by Vlad Filat. At that time, Alexei Gofman, brother of Mihail Gofman, was responsible for the credits and guarantees management, and afterwards was counsellor of the BEM president. It should be noted, that, apart from work relations, Alexei Gofman and Grigore Gacikevici are close friends

According to some documents, because the guarantees were evaluated incorrectly and fraudulently by the evaluation company, being artificially increased the value of the guaranteed goods, the commercialization of the guarantee could not compensate the value of the loans given by BEM. Thus, only according to one list which has got into their possession, the bank was robbed of tens of million lei.

In the response letter from 3 june 2015 sent by the Cadaster Agency to the address of the special administrator of BEM it is mentioned that “the evaluation report elaborated by Gofma Consulting SRL does not correspond to the provisions of the normative acts on immobile goods evaluation”.

Thus the documents confirms the direct fraud of the company managed by Mihail Gofman in prejudicing BEM.

After the appearance of company name in the media, which coincides perfectly with the name of Alexei and Mihail Gofman, the administrator of Gofma Consulting SRL, Dumitru Taraburca dined vehemently that the enterprise has any connection to Gofman brothers. Still Taraburca did not explain the strange coincidence of the name and the fraudulent evaluations of the guarantees at BEM.
