Bomb from Second World War discovered in Bălţi. Law enforcement secured the perimeter
A bomb from the Second World War was found by a team of employees in a stadium from Bălţi, during some diggings. Employees of a private company performed works to set up pillars for the stadium's lighting system. Once on site, police officers have secured the perimeter.
"A 122 mm artillery projectile was found. The object dates back to the Second World War and was taken to the Institution's Center where it will be defused" sapper Vadim Cuşnir said.
The employees found the bomb yesterday and in the end, the security guard was the one who decided to call the police.
"The work was suspended, in case there are any other bomb buried nearby. After the perimeter is searched and declared safe, we will continue. Employees have not done anything, good thing the security guard reacted" stadium administrator, Igor Sudovnic said.
According to the security guard, the bomb was buried two meters deep.
Last year, the bomb disposal team of the military have neutralized 900 explosives.
Most ammunition: 43 artillery projectiles, 40 hand grenades, and 100 cartridges, were discovered in November 2017 on a construction site from Bălţi.
