Children born with congenital heart defects to benefit of state financed surgeries

Children who were born with congenital heart defects will benefit of surgeries from the account of the National Health Insurance Company. A project in this regard will be launched by Swedish cardiologist Petru Liuba and his colleague of Moldova Ion Popovici, supported by the Ministry of Health.
The project is released because of this treatment can benefit many children.
The procedure consists in treating cardiac defects with an umbrella inserted through the artery in the leg.
The price for the surgery is an average of 90,000 lei, and so far the costs were covered by donors.
Last year, by this method, 23 children have been treated.
According to the Ministry of Health, annually in our country, over 400 children are born with congenital heart defects.
