Chisinau International Airport fire. Over 200 employees and passengers evacuated
Over 200 employees and passengers were evacuated from Chisinau International Airport, after a booth caught fire, according to the script.
Multiple ambulances arrive to the scene, while firefighters took immediate actions to extinguish the flames.
Some travelers got scared when they heard the siren.
"We were scared. I grabbed my daughter an exited. I followed the lead of other people and went outside."
"When the siren was heard, I waited a bit then calmly went outside. We must be informed and ready in case something truly happens."
Others were amused.
"It was fun."
"I was in the bathroom when the siren was heard. People must know where and when to exit."
The airport's staff claims that such training is very useful.
"I was calm. There was a passenger and I assured here that there is no reason to panic."
Such exercises take place at the airport twice per year.
"The evacuation was slow, but alright. All devices are fully functional. The doors opened automatically. The evacuation system was connected" director of Chisinau International Airport, Petru Jardan said.
The simulation was meant to test how well prepared the specialists are.
"The simulation included the burning of a booth, which the firefighter dealt with according to the script and requirements" chief of firefighters and rescuers from Botanica, Emilian Ieşciuc said.
Such training are made in other institutions as well, at the request of Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
