Chisinau water supplier loses millions in bad contract with firm

Apa Canal-Chişinău, the city’s water supplier, has lost MDL10 mn ($500,000) for cleansing impurities from an alcohol manufacturer: the source of bad smell in the city. It’s the conclusion of the tax inspectors who checked the supplier.
The water company would have also lost incomes of MDL27 mn aftwer applying a reduced tariff for its services to the alcohol producer.
Later in 2016, prosecutors opened two criminal cases on the issues of bad smell and polluted water, which found the dirty water from the alcohol manufacturer polluted the environment.
The people in charge may serve sentences of three years in jail and huge fines, if they are found guilty.
