They filled our homes with joy on Christmas and New Year, and now they are thrown away. It is about thousands of natural Christmas trees, which starting tomorrow will become natural fertilizers. The municipal authorities are betting on people's responsibility and are advising them to leave the trees in authorized places.

It became a tradition for the communal department to collect Christmas trees after winter holidays.

Authorities are advising Chisinau residents to leave the trees near the authorized points of storing waste. People are welcoming the initiative.

The trees will be transported to the park "Dendrariu" where they will be cut and transformed into fertilizers for plants.

"The mechanism is capable to crush them, we are transforming them in vegetable mass, so that afterwards we will put a layer to the new-planted trees in order to protect them from the sun" said Silvia Tonu, head of dendrology.

Last year were collected approximately 3,000 trees, 1,500 of which were recycled.

According to Moldsilva, this year, from nursery gardens were sold approximately 15,000 trees.
