A councilman from Corjeuţi will stand trial for a hit and run.

The tragedy took place on February 25 2018, on the main streets from Corjeuţi village, Briceni district. While drunk driving, the man hit a 7-year-old child, who was walking with his mother.

After the crash, the minor passed away on site, while the suspect continued on his way home, where he parked the car and went to sleep.

Shortly after the crash he was arrested and placed in preventive detention at the request of prosecutors.

Test have shown that the suspect had a blood alcohol content of 2,40 g/l.

If found guilty, he risk to spend the next 4 to 8 years in prison.
